When it’s time to go home, your dog will be excited to see you. In this excited state, your dog may eat and drink excessively, which can cause stomach upset. We recommend you do not let your dog eat for at least three hours after returning home, and then be careful not to overfeed him.
Excitement will also cause panting, which makes dogs thirsty. Treat your dog to ice cubes to quench his thirst, but don’t allow him to freely drink water.
When it’s time for cats to return home, they simply need some quiet time to readjust to their surroundings.
